that definitely qualifies as a thought. and yeah, i'm pretty sure there was, but oh well.

the only thing that i can say about those shoes is that i think they look badass.

yeah but it degenerated into a discussion of Adi Dassler's relationship with brother Rudy.
The shoe thread from the previous week was much more enlightening

plus they weigh less than five abazabas http://www.mckandy.com/images/3194

but they're not vegan like abazabas, so i guess it's a tough call. or was that not the point of this thread

onetwentyeight 04-08-06 11:59 AM

Does anything in this forum have a point?

+1 but I saw a pic somewhere that showed what seemed to be like a string holding mechanism. If you could just pull them tight and roll that would be a lot better than regular lacing.

edit: they are $109

Just got a pair. Very comfortable. You can walk in 'em okay though my SPD cleats still barely scrape the ground. The only thing that bothers me are the laces. They have a slide on them. When you pull the laces tight with the slide, they stick out pretty far. Kind of worries me riding fixed. Though tucking them in has worked out just fine.

thebigmrT 04-08-06 06:00 PM

awesome..i had almost lost all hope in this forum as far as getting an actual answer haha but thanks to the few who actually responded

Tangsooyuk where did u see them for 109?? i've only found them for like 119 so far...and ten bucks is all u can eat dim sum around these parts

Tangsooyuk 04-08-06 06:45 PM

Oh man, Ive been online a lot the past 2 days so I will have to go back and look. If/when I find it I shall PM you a link.

explody pup 04-08-06 07:35 PM

Because: 1. I thought my earlier description of the lacing was vague and 2. I'm still trying to justify my camera purchase...

They're really nice shoes, though I wouldn't recommend them for cold weather riding unless you have insulated booties. All that mesh would leave you w/ a numb foot in no time. Also, the laces aren't nylon or cotton or anything silly like that. They're some sort of ballistic material used in flack/bullet-proof vests (I've got the specific info from Adidas at work - I'll post it tomorrow). The ridges running up the shoe aren't just aesthetic - they're also the major structural component of the sides of the shoe and prevent it from stretching under pedaling force.

Enough half-remembered rambling - actual info will come tomorrow when I have the .pdf in front of me.

OK - I see that end of the loop has a little tab with the adidas logo - does that tab attach to the shoe somehow? I still don't get how that big loop is secured to the shoe.

the pope 04-09-06 09:37 AM

That is a problem. Could you jam that big tab under the lace in front?
