yeah but it degenerated into a discussion of Adi Dassler's relationship with brother Rudy.
The shoe thread from the previous week was much more enlightening

+1 but I saw a pic somewhere that showed what seemed to be like a string holding mechanism. If you could just pull them tight and roll that would be a lot better than regular lacing.

edit: they are $109

Just got a pair. Very comfortable. You can walk in 'em okay though my SPD cleats still barely scrape the ground. The only thing that bothers me are the laces. They have a slide on them. When you pull the laces tight with the slide, they stick out pretty far. Kind of worries me riding fixed. Though tucking them in has worked out just fine.

Because: 1. I thought my earlier description of the lacing was vague and 2. I'm still trying to justify my camera purchase...

They're really nice shoes, though I wouldn't recommend them for cold weather riding unless you have insulated booties. All that mesh would leave you w/ a numb foot in no time. Also, the laces aren't nylon or cotton or anything silly like that. They're some sort of ballistic material used in flack/bullet-proof vests (I've got the specific info from Adidas at work - I'll post it tomorrow). The ridges running up the shoe aren't just aesthetic - they're also the major structural component of the sides of the shoe and prevent it from stretching under pedaling force.

Enough half-remembered rambling - actual info will come tomorrow when I have the .pdf in front of me.

OK - I see that end of the loop has a little tab with the adidas logo - does that tab attach to the shoe somehow? I still don't get how that big loop is secured to the shoe.

That is a problem. Could you jam that big tab under the lace in front?
