BMX Stem Diameter and Cruiser Bars?

Do BMX bars and beach cruiser bars have the same stem diameter? I have a funny feeling after ordering a BMX style stem for a beach cruiser I'm building that the BMX bars are slightly thinner with no raised middle like cruiser bars have. Can anyone confirm?

I've got an Electra frame with a 1 1/8" threadless fork so I need a stem that is both threadless and fits beach cruiser bars.

99% of bmx stems are 1 1/8", unless you get some super ****ty rip off from the 80's

My super ****ty rip off from the 80s stem is indeed 1" quill. I never bothered to check the clamp diameter on it, though, as I'm happy with the apehangers it currently has stuck in it.

I was acutally looking for the clamp diameter. I think they are a bit different. Have to find a mountain bike stem if the cruiser bars don't fit.
