Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

anyone know if i got ripped off?

i got a tear in my tire after the dumbo race which is a funny story actually.
i was on sunday walking with my friend and i was thinking aloud about how
any of us can die at any moment. i said i wonder if my last moment will
be spend seeing this ad in the window. so my friend and i parted ways and i start
to ride off, when i realize i have a flat. i pull over and start to fix it. ten seconds
later there is a massive 3 car wreck at the next light, and if i had been standing
there i could have been hurt. it was some weird karma for sure, however
getting back to the point. i bought a tire at a nearby store called
maxxis re fuse which i had never heard of but the price was right.
the cat at the store said it was just as good as armadillos which he also
had for more money but said this cheaper tire was just as good.
so i got it, so anyone know about these? are they ok or did i
get some crapola?

Was the tire a Maxxis? (https://www.maxxis.com/) They make decent stuff. I have never used their road stuff before, but they are a reputable company.

If it's 110-20 psi it probably is Ok. I was told the same thing about some 26" Cyclepro tires and the bike shop dude was right.

one time i was going for a ride and as i was out my front stairs i realized i had to pee.. so i ran back up and watered a cactus in the yard and continued on my way...10 minutes later im biking down the long road and in front of me a bronco comes barelling into the road from my left.. t-bones another car and they both wreck hard against the curb/telephone pole...all about a pee-break-behind-the-cactus in front of me...(the conclusion of that story.. the dude who t-boned traffic.. hops out.. does that comedic look-both-ways-before-running thing and huffs it down the street.. but getting caught quickly by a concerned citizen..) no point to this story.. cept that i agree.. weird feeling.. oh.. and when you have to pee.......dooo itttt..

I am sure you did not get ripped off. Those are good tires.

But I do take offense to the words "just as good as armadillos". Those belts are par excellence.

I got some folded-bead maxxis detonators (I think they used to call them something else). For the price I'm lovin' them somethin' fierce. Knock on wood, haven't had a flat in months.
