Brooks Saddle Staining my Pants

Not a good look.

I have a used B17 Brooks saddle from I am guessing the 60's, so it well broken in. I love the saddle but it is staining my pants, right in the seat, so now my Carharts have a really nice dark brown area around my seat.

Is this normal?

Is there a fix for it?

Now you know why cycling shorts are black.

Diapers.

OR maybe get a saddle cover? Riv sells them, or you can make one yourself.

Has the saddle been treated with Proofide or some other leather goo? An excess might be bleeding back into your clothing. I doubt someone is playing a complex practical joke. Find a really good cobbler or tack shop (Horse gear) and ask there. Luck

I don't think so. I rarely stop by the shops and rarely take part in organized rides. The last time I was there *** ordered some Sidis for me.

It's more likely the dye from the leather. My saddle does this whenever I get sweat-ay, giving a greenish stain from the dye. A short ride with no sweat= no stain, typically.

Wear black.
