Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? I think I am going to Columbus Circle at Noon, is that wrong? But I might not ride the whole thing, don't have till 6 to ride.

Been out and about today in Spanish Harlem and things are bumpin'. It always gets crazy around the parade, should be fun.

the ride shouldn't take 6 hours as long as we don't stop every 10 minutes. I'm looking to pound through the course a bit, and get a feel of the thing at a decent pace. I'll meet ya at columbus at noon, leave by 12:30, park by 1.

I think I'll be at columbus circle at noon. Though, it being my first ride (edit: second ride -- who knows of a shop that's got ATAC cleats in stock?) in the city, I'll be taking it easy. Anyone not riding it at full speed and among 50mph traffic? Hm, I need to buy a new helmet.

I haven't really been following talk about the course -- are people gearing down? I'm at 50x16 now.

That was fun. In a masochistic sort of way. I did indeed make it home by following the dots clouding my vision. Thanks for waiting up folks.

I'm going to sleep now, then plan my training regiment.
