Do DA trackcranks' octalink splines strip on the street?

Bikes: Shogun 800 (had to cull the herd)

I've noticed that the chainrings wear out faster on my fixed-gears and the chainring bolts tend to loosen up over time, which never happens on my road bikes. I've always assumed it's from the constant back-and-forth motion, so I'd find it totally believable that it could wear out splined cranks and bottom brackets...

I've had the same DA 53t ring running for a year straight with plenty of mileage on it, haven't had a problem with loosening the ring bolts either...

A nice ring like Sugino Zen can last you two years of hard riding, FWIW.
