Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Beautiful! Is that a custom Coast stem? Looks great... the blue detail on the chromed fork is a nice touch.

How about some details on the frame? Looks like Newvex lugs... what kind of tubing, etc?

Would you mind PM ing me and giving me a rough idea how much one of these frames would cost? I absolutely love fancy lugs.

thanks for the nice words, all.

they are newvex lugs and it's a mix of columbus tubing (zona and foco, i believe).

i think it's got dedacciai fork blades, which are more elegant than the columbus.

custom coast stem (which is unbelievable - i almost can't bear to ride it, it's so pretty).

the paint job is very nice, but not joe bell class work (and coast admits it - a basic paint job is part of the reason why he can offer such nice prices). the whole fork crown was painted to match, but the painter failed to sand the chrome properly so the paint didn't adhere and peeled right off.

this is not a big deal to me, as i know i'm going to have it scratched and dinged up in no time, but a great painter would not have made this mistake.

as it's built up in the picture:

custom coast steel frame, fork, stem
suzue promax hubs laced to non-machined silver velocity fusion rims
campy 165mm fluted pista cranks
campy ACH BB
49 x 18 gearing
nitto 125 38cm bars
MKS RX-1 pedals with MKS double track straps
thompson elite post
chris king gripnut headset
blue rubino tires

btw, i just put about 30 miles on this thing and it's amazing...

it corners like it's on rails - riding up to central park, i was seeking out as many clear corners as i could find so i could dig into the drops and really fly through them.

oh, and someone said the seattube looks way long, but it's the angle of the photo.

the ST is 57.5 c-c and the TT is 59 c-c

Geometry? It looks pretty mellow... or is it just the size of the frame?

That bike is beautiful! Cheers. Love the stem. Be sure treat it like the incredible machine that it is. By which I of course mean, "Ride the hell out of it".

I'd kill just to get one of those stems. I've emailed them to see how much one would run.
