moving to chicago
just after nacccs in september. don't want to change occupation. i know this has been generically covered. where would be a good company to start at if i have over a year experience, though not in that city? i just had a great time at the sprints and it totally renewed my love for the midwest. so yeah, i'll see all you chicago cats before too long.

I don't know if it's still around, but when I lived in Chicago, there was a company called Quicksilver Messenger Service (at the time, I had only heard of the band and not the movie...heh). I say go with them. And then change your bf name to Quicksilver.

Quicksilver is pretty lame. Your best bet is to try somewhere like On Time, Dynamex, or Advanced, those places seem to be doing alright. You can try Velocity if you show up at 7:30 in the morning and its raining and someone called in sick and they might hire you.

yo, i say try ontime, dynamex, or advance. velo is hard to get into but if you do its pretty good money. service first is never hiring. quicksilver is no good and i hear there having internal problems. stay away from faster. ive worked with standard for about 6 yrs. there not very good but ive put my time in and i get treated alright so thats why ive stayed. i say if all else fails just come on in to standard and ill probably still be dispatching so ill look out for you. at least it'll be some sort of income until better things. also, potbellys isn't a bad gig but you have to lug around there big case filled with food and sometimes drinks. anyway, as the time gets closer let me know and i'll give you the heads up on whats going down with what company. good luck. see you at the NACC. peace.

So much truth to this statement. 24 years of "edge" went out the window a month after I moved here. Thanks, Chicago!

I decided to return to Chicago after touring with a straightedge band as a roadie back in 1990. Once the decision was made, I proceeded to a 7Eleven to buy a pack of Camels (X #1 gone), some beef jerky (X #2 gone), and a Budweiser Tall Boy (X #3, I AM OUT!!!). Sometimes, things change.
Welcome to Chicago.

haha. evan, just want to be back in the midwest. it rules. and it breakaway ever does call me, i'll be under 2 hours away rather than half a country. all the chicago kids, thanks much. as soon as naccs are over i'll be in town. i'm actually super stoked. this should be fun. not too worried about the edge thing. and the illinois tattoo would be f'in hilarious. but the rest of the state is not so hot. not that i've been there. but wisconsin is great as a whole. and did one of you add me on the space? i recognize the guy, but i don't think we actually met. but yeah. this outta be fun.

If you are looking for an Illinois themed tattoo, someone came up with this: https://www.bmezine.com/tattoo/A60407...mepb252484.jpg
Who knows, it may fit with your Wisconsin tat

That's a perfect coverup, Jason.
The bullet hole can go right where the heart is on your Wisconsin one.
