No offense, but fixie tricks are worse than 70's and 80's BMX tricks. At least with BMX there was room for progression. I think that skidding variations, wheelies, the Pedaling Deathtruck (no one has done this yet that I know of) is as good as it's gonna get.

first of all, I disagree...there is always room for progression on a fixie...

secondly...in your talking in comparison to bmx bikes, you're right in the sense that there is no comparison in terms of doing tricks...

but...a fix gear is not a trick bike (at least most aren't)...'s still fun to learn and do tricks on them (especially the useful ones) tho

I find it awesome if people do tricks on "real" bike that are not made for it.

As a BMXer who also rides a track bike, I must say that I find most fixie tricks to be kind of lame- I enjoy skidding, wheelies, and bunnyhops on a track bike, but the other stuff just comes off as way to trials-ish and kinda goofy. I guess for me it just boils down to liking tricks at high speed more than stationary balancing.

The pedaling deathtruck has been done on a track bike- there's some unbelieveable videos floating around out there, although they feature gymnists rather than ordinary bike riders.

Bike vertical on the back wheel, with your crotch over the headtube, and pedaling- I think usually in a circle. I don't ride flat, so don't hold me to this.

This guy is rolling forward. This is actually harder with a freewheel than a fixed gear. You can modulate a fixed gear, FW goes one direction.

These bikes will never be flatland bikes. that's not the intent. I think the bike ballet stuff is very soft, artistic cycling has that taken care of. most messenger events are a drunkin version of track and field events. traffic, hills, going 40+, and being creative is what it's all about.

oh, so that's a pedaling deathtruck. still, when i build my fixed beater/big kid bmx (so to speak, i know with flatland badassses and such, bmx is big kid stuff anyway)...i still think i'll call it The Pedaling Deathtruck.

I've never really considered tricks on my fixie. I mean, I suppose that skids, bunnyhops, and trackstands *are* tricks, but I've always just considered those part of riding the bike.
