Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? pedal

just arrived home from work with the best intentions of doing some research. instead i found a copy of pedal in my mailbox which paired nicely with the 40 in my fridge. the pictures in the book are phenomenal, and the movie is great too. except for the jesus guy. for a messenger, he's slow as ****. i especially like the seatpost cam in the beginning. go get it, damnit.

I work at the same company as Skeletor, he has yet to see this movie! Invited him to the film Festival to check it out but he was not interested.

FYI: Pedal (edit) IS AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW (Thank You Snow Bunny) on the nonprofit(501c3) store run by the New York Bike Messenger Foundation!

Somebody has got to Invite Jesus to the 666 race. I did like the contrast between the messengers.

i bought Pedal at the BFF cause i had to leave town before saturday. watched it last night. pretty good. i think it did a good job of not romanticizing messengering like a lot of the other movies have. also interesting to get a glimpse at monster track #1 and see how it's grown.

so was peter skating while filming most of this?

I love Pedal. Saw it a few years ago when it was being shown on the Sundance Channel. It was refreshing to see a lot of the techniques used to film skating done the same way. There's a different vibe with that as opposed to a helmetcam.

Going to pick this one up -- I want to see the book.

the riders were all very different, i do like how red light go is more about the track fixed riders, but it was cool to see other stuff.
