Redline Conquest single speed conversion (help!)
ok for starters I'm a noob when it comes to bikes, I'm about to get a used redline conquest, its basically all stock except the for the wheels. I mainly plan on using this as a commuter\barhopping bike but I also plan on hitting some trails with it everyonce in a while (I'll just swap out the tires). what I got on the bike now is a spox front wheel, and a shimano 105 rear wheel with a 5 speed freewheel. I'm not so stoked about the old 105 wheel because I hear its most likly really old so up and replaceing it is not out of the question (however I kinda wanna keep the front wheel). I've never done any single speed conversions and have very little knowledge about the subject. if anybody has any idea as to what componants I would need to convert this into a single speed ($150 spending limit) taking in mind the bike model I would be very appresheative. I'm going to have to figgure out my own ideal gear ration on my own (unless you have any ideas, mostly flat ground for me, a few hills though). I'm still trying to decide between a regular single speed or a flipflop style so I have the option of a fixed gear....if I'm just asking stupid questions just point me in the direction of a decent guide.
thanx
