I just got hit

but it was in my car as I was on my way to pick some people up.

Yay for non-english speaking unlicensed drivers merging into you!

teiaperigosa 05-22-06 04:22 PM

english speaking licensed drivers are just as bad and worse

sherbert tights 05-22-06 04:25 PM

wow! the planets must be aligned just right cause that is like the 3rd car fender/bender i have heard about, today. crazy.

crushkilldstroy 05-22-06 04:32 PM

i took a bong hit last night.

i have nothing valid to add to this post.

zelah 05-22-06 04:36 PM

what does the language they speak have to do with anything?

I wasn't joking when I said yay you know.

I completely agree, weird as it sounds. I'm glad this wasn't a dumb**** talking on a phone while driving and claiming it wasn't his/her fault. At the very least in this case I have a bike I can ride still (which was in my car, thank god it wasn't hurt), and there was no fuss sorting it all out after the fact.

Why can't everyone learn Esperanto like they're supposed to?

harder to deal with during and after i would guess

It's the language they don't speak that had something to do with it. I didn't point out any nationailty or what language they DO speak, because it didn't have anything to do with the accident.

Not speaking english meant I couldn't deal with them so the police sorted it out. It made the entire thing a hell of a lot easier on me, because I have no ****ing clue how to deal with car accidents.

It's like that other guy who got thrown out of a conveneince store and just had to mention that the owners name was habid mohammed.

I'm betting if it was a white guy he wouldn't have mentioned his name.

Same deal

Jesus, stop digging for drama that doesn't exist.

humancongereel 05-22-06 07:09 PM

Was the car brakeless?

Sorry. I had to.

space_robots 05-22-06 07:46 PM

pics?

screamingveg 05-22-06 11:32 PM

The car was nearly brakeless a couple weeks ago, I was only running a front because I commute in it.

I'll post pics for humor's sake once everything is properly settled.

Sin-A-Matic 05-22-06 11:46 PM

I hit an SUV the other day. It was my fault.

I was in an urban area and (foolishly) decided to pass a slow moving (stupid) driver on the right. He decided to suddenly turn in to a parking spot and I smacked the side his car as I was turning alongside him in to the spot. He heard the noise and stopped and I drove in front of him and rode off. I didn't actually hit him hard, it was only my arm / shoulder that bumped his car and I didn't do any damage.

There, a relevant story for this thread.

The actual language doesn't really mean anything. The fact that they didn't speak any english at all, that might.

Here in Minneapolis, there's been some problems with the testing to get people their licenses. I can't remember the specifics, but I saw on the news awhile ago that what was happening is that the interpreters were actually coaching for the correct answers on the written and driving tests. So people were passing without actually having any idea what they were doing.

Not saying that knowing english means that all english speakers are good drivers by any means. Just that it was one more crack for bad drivers to slip through...

yeah. the thing is, though, that there are plenty of ***hole and idiot drivers out there who do speak english and do pass the tests (somehow? I don't know how?), so I find it hard to get worked up about this. Clearly if it's systematic, then, well, it's an issue. But, yeah, bad drivers will always be there. It just would be nice if they didn't run people over all the time. Or even wreck their nice bikes.

HereNT 05-23-06 01:02 AM

The article I'm remembering, it was systematic. You'd pay someone to both interpret and answer the questions for you...
