I completely agree, weird as it sounds. I'm glad this wasn't a dumb**** talking on a phone while driving and claiming it wasn't his/her fault. At the very least in this case I have a bike I can ride still (which was in my car, thank god it wasn't hurt), and there was no fuss sorting it all out after the fact.

It's the language they don't speak that had something to do with it. I didn't point out any nationailty or what language they DO speak, because it didn't have anything to do with the accident.
Not speaking english meant I couldn't deal with them so the police sorted it out. It made the entire thing a hell of a lot easier on me, because I have no ****ing clue how to deal with car accidents.

I'm betting if it was a white guy he wouldn't have mentioned his name.

The car was nearly brakeless a couple weeks ago, I was only running a front because I commute in it.
I'll post pics for humor's sake once everything is properly settled.

I hit an SUV the other day. It was my fault.
I was in an urban area and (foolishly) decided to pass a slow moving (stupid) driver on the right. He decided to suddenly turn in to a parking spot and I smacked the side his car as I was turning alongside him in to the spot. He heard the noise and stopped and I drove in front of him and rode off. I didn't actually hit him hard, it was only my arm / shoulder that bumped his car and I didn't do any damage.

Here in Minneapolis, there's been some problems with the testing to get people their licenses. I can't remember the specifics, but I saw on the news awhile ago that what was happening is that the interpreters were actually coaching for the correct answers on the written and driving tests. So people were passing without actually having any idea what they were doing.
Not saying that knowing english means that all english speakers are good drivers by any means. Just that it was one more crack for bad drivers to slip through...

The article I'm remembering, it was systematic. You'd pay someone to both interpret and answer the questions for you...
