Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

anyone at crit mass last nite?

anyway... we were in the bike lane heading south on Broadway, when at 40th street, 3 cop vans screech into the bike lane, and throw dooors open. This was about 2 feet ahead of me and i juuust managed to squeeze thru. Others were not as lucky, some got grabbed (literally) and ticketed, and one poor girl got doored in the bike lane by a cop and was layed out until an ambulance came. I dont feel the cops acted fairly, they only took pics after it got dark, prob to claim she didnt have lights and reflectors, and they waited until two of the three vans left the scene to take pictures. i hope this girl sues.

I was at the NYC Critical Mass

I'll have my write up and photos done tomorrow or so. I've photographed and wrote about the last few CM rides in NYC.
The rides just get weirder and weirder.

www.mcgloin.blogspot.com

Bikeblog is basically NYC and very well done.

Yeah my friend got tagged for "Riding on the wrong side" ticket and saw the dooring. Sounds like the cops were entirely out of line yet again. Not exactly news though.
