naw all playing aside, its not a bad neighborhood. tons of college kids live round hurrr.

I lived on Nostrand and Quincy and I assure you, it was definately a bad neighborhood. However, nobody ever managed to hit me with bottles.

Myrtle is closer to the art school and a little more tame.

I live down by Fulton and Grand (not exactly, but approximately). On Sunday my girlfriend witnessed a triple shooting/homicide outside of the laundrymat (Clean Rite!) that she had just walked into. That corner, Putnam and Grand, is a pretty notorious drug spot.

In spite of the creeping "gentrification" of Clinton Hill, Bed Stuy and South burg, this stuff does actually happen. I know we like to think it's Sesame St. and eveything, but people DO get bottles thrown at them, and cats do get shot. Kids get gunned down in playgrounds b/c they get caught in drive-by crossfire.

Don't get me wrong. I love where I live. I'm just saying.

it aint a bad neighborhood, i mean im two blocks to pratt, and my building is full of 19 year old freshmen art students. however, the further east you travel, the more ghetto it becomes. and i do hear gunshots every so often. but no roosters thank god.

mareesha 05-31-06 01:41 PM

yep.

2 blocks from pratt = pretty safe zone...especially when you're on 2 wheels.
the real targets will be the 1st year students and those who came here from beyond our borders. even then, one never can tell whats gonna happen around here.

Man, it must be awesome to live in NYC. Chicago just sucks. Too many fat people & too hot/cold.

krillz 05-31-06 04:35 PM

ny is nothing but fat people. and they all get in lycra outfits and ride bikes when its super nice out. sometimes i squeel like a pig when i see them. does that make me mean? naw im just playin.
for real though i hear chicago is a dope place to be, but whats up with the pizza???
i cant mess with anywhere that doesnt produce quality bagels and pizza. so lets get the facts straight... are there good bagels in chicago? or is it that einstein brothers bullshiz?

I have yet to find a good bagel in Chicago. However I have been spending more time in Milwaukee than I have at home. If anyone knows where to get a decent breakfast in this town please share!
