What Chain?
Dear fellow singlepseeders,
I have recently converted my trek 6700 Disc into a Singlespeed. I was planning on buying the Gusset single speed conversion kit (right now I still have the exrea sprockets on the freehub).I am using my rear derauiller as a tensioner. I was wondering If I can use a BMX rear cog with my nine speed chain. Thank you.

If it's an 1/8" cog, then you'll need an 1/8" chain to match. You can always use a wider chain with narrower components, but not the other way around. A SRAM PC-1 is a good, cheap, reliable chain that you can pick up at your LBS for about $10. KMC also makes an 1/8" chain in that range, I think.

If you're using your derailleur as a tensioner, will an 1/8" chain fit?

If he's using a 1/8" chain it's not going to be long enough in the first place to be able to be used by the derailleur.

don't mean to thread-jack, but another chain question, which the op might find useful. i just strung up a magic gear (yes, i know the drawbacks, but i had everything laying around) and the chain tension is perfect. can anyone recommend a chain that won't stretch, for awhile at least? thanks.
