more miche questions

so do miche hubs REQUIRE the miche cog carrier system? or can you throw on a surly cog and lockring like normal?

hyperRevue 05-31-06 03:36 PM

It does not require it.
You can thread on any cog/lockring like normal if you choose.

sloppy robot 05-31-06 03:47 PM

not any cog...they have to be either ISO or non-ISO but i can never remember which

hyperRevue 05-31-06 03:49 PM

Yeah, sorry.
Probably ISO, like their crank's taper.

seasponge 05-31-06 03:54 PM

you can't use just any lockring, they come with a lockring a though

concernicus 05-31-06 03:56 PM

would a surly be legit?

seasponge 05-31-06 04:00 PM

lockring threading standards:

33.5 mm × 24 TPI Campagnolo, Gipiemme, Phil Wood, Miche
1.29" × 24 TPI Shimano, Suntour, Suzue, Surly, Zipp, Corima
33.0 mm × 1 Mavic

hyperRevue 05-31-06 04:00 PM

I don't think so.
I believe you need phil or campy.
But I might be wrong.

spud 05-31-06 04:04 PM

thanks for link seasponge

humancongereel 05-31-06 05:15 PM

EAI cogs work, too.

sr20det 05-31-06 05:24 PM

my only qualms w/ my miche hub are the track nuts. too small and its 14mm as opposed to standard 15mm.
yea, and EAI, Phil or Campy cogs work.

That bugged me too. so I bought a set of 15mm track nuts for like $3. All better!

sr20det 05-31-06 08:57 PM

oh damn, for real?
I tried to thread on some 15mm track nut for 30 seconds and it didn't thread on so I just figured the axle to be miche propriatary. haha
I think I'll try again.

Anightinthewood 05-31-06 09:02 PM

I run a surly cog on mine no problem the only difrance is in the lockring thread but like people said it comes with one.

there are a couple of different sizes. I forget which size it is, but whatever size it is you can get in 15mm. I just bought what they had at the bike shop, and luckily it was the right thing.

My Miche hubs came with 15mm track nuts front and rear... that's odd.

Boe 06-01-06 05:30 AM

Miche recently changed from 14mm to 15mm track nuts.

seasponge 06-01-06 02:31 PM
