Baking soda.

Yank the insoles, and fill em with baking soda for a day or two. Throw out the insoles and replace with new ones.

Don't wear the same pair of shoes every day. They will have time to dry thoroughly and won't develop the stink.

seriously this works: throw them in your freezer overnight (in a bag of somesort). The freezing temperature kills the bacteria that are causing the stink. Works great on biking shorts and socks, or any other synthetic fabric (particularly polypropylene) that holds on to odour despite washing ...

Bikes: 74 paramount track, 80s maruishi track, 70s chesini track.

fill your bathtub with a few gallons of bleach, soak exposed feet for 20 minutes, scrub feet with pummice stone every 5 minutes.

change socks 2 or 3 times a day.

deoderant on the bottoms of your feets and foot powder in all of your kicks.

Dr Scholls foot powder applied liberally to the insides of the shoes periodically and let to sit at least overnight. I've had good luck with this.

Oh yeah, and if you can wash it, go for Oxi-clean. That sh*t fixes everything.

Second the oxi-clean. That stuff can work miracles.
Another option is just to soak the inside with simple green or the like. Don't rinse it off.
This is the best if you realize the shoes are unbearably stinky just before you head out the door.
