Yeah, the fork was designed for the specific uses of this bike - not people's eye-candy jerking off pleasure. a "tighter clearance" would throw off the geometry.

Yes, threadless. Much, much stiffer. More stem options. More practical. Stronger. It's bulky because of it's angular contact sealed bearings, which are smooth and won't ever pit my races.

I love 'em love 'em. They're great for mass events, because you can crank down the tension and feel secure, but know you can get out in a hurry if you need to. The large platform is also comfy. Once I get into time trial type events and sprints, I'll probably do something clipless/toe clip hybrid combo for max. security.

+1 on all of this.

who cares about tire clearance? decisions made in favor of practicality and geometry are far wiser than opting for aesthetic novelties because you read that some people on the internet creamed over them for the 30 seconds that they actually talked about the bike you made to get their approval by making a bike that looks just like every other bike that they were comfortable creaming over.

quill stems are the worst. 1-1/8" threadless all the way. get with the 21st century, kids.

Bikes: several. blue. fun.

ok, i was not going to say it earlier, but now that i've had several beers n' shots, i have to say...
why do the same people that flame new posters for posting their bikes on a separate thread revel in this? why does this bike warrant a thread, when everyone else is expected to just post their photos in the above "sticky" thread?

just sayin'.
walk the walk, y'all. really. anyone who posted here has now lost all rights to criticize anyone who posts their bikes in IRO threads or their own threads.

and to be clear, i'm not anti-DW or anti-teabag or anything. i mean, don, you're awesome. i'm just for people being real.

hateration?
no.

i'm just sayin', s'all.
i mean, if you want some full frontal jonny cycles (starry and shiny!), and some thread about a 3rensho that is now the hottest girls' fix of 2005, yeah. i can do that. but i WON'T. cuz we have a photo thread.

that's all i'll say about it. flame away! my lovey happy funness will not be disrupted.

ps - OMG he knows my real name. please ignore the man behind the curtain. he doesn't know what he says.

like speaking bravely after drinking.

Well, in that vain, I ask all of us these questions:
why do you not ride your track bike more often at the track?
or
why must you combine exercise with alcohol more often than not?
or
why do you own multiple bikes when you can ride only one at a time?

I, too, am guilty as charged.

How the world is full of wonderment under the guise of confusion.
I just like bikes...most bikes. Sometimes, I like bikes more than people. They talk less and accomplish more.

how's about cuz i've never lived near one before? Okashii and I are headed there tomorrow. beside, you yourself said "yeah, i think women are welcome, but i've never seen any there." [re: monday clinics]

because it's FUN. and that is what bikes are all about.

sorry, that wasn't about this thread. that was about me. or at least my super insecure interweb radar said it might be about me. had to take that one on. now, i have more drinkin' to do.

I think all chimbly was doing was pointing out that sometimes when people devote a new thread to their bike they get **** on and other times they don't, which is true. I've had both happen to me.
I really think it was just a coincidence that it happened to be a DW this time.
But maybe I'm wrong.

don.. can you explain a little more about why you wouldnt want the tire in closer? not a criticism.. i just dont fully understand the ins and outs of good track geometry, especially the front end.
