I wear the ones in this style that have the velcro lace protector and couldn't love them more. Well, I suppose that the sole could be stiffer, but the velcro is perfect for keeping my laces tucked and they've held up remarkably well. Plus they look gooooood in black on black.

Bikes: EAI Bare Knuckle track, Gianni Motta track, Lemond road bike, Nishiki road fixed conversion, piles of parts.

Check the Adidias Dragons, ultra low heels and no clip catching lace lip thing. I don't know about longevity yet, only a month on them.

Right now i ride in puma speed cats. Super low profile and fit in clips and straps great but the sole is super thin and they flex like a mofo. As flexy as they are though they're still my favotite shoes to ride in coz the straps grip them so well.

I was trying on shoes a little while ago and found that the adidas pulsado indoor soccer shoe was really comfortable and had a really stiff sole. Has anybody ever tried these out?

Stiff sole? On soccer shoes? Have you ever tried on clipless shoes?

BTW, Shimano makes non-clipless cycling shoes. Dunno if they're any good.

Bikes: Converted 1997 Trek Singletrack 930 singlespeed and a Kona Lavadome singlespeed, fixed Dahon folding bike, fixed 27" Miyata road bike, early 70's Raleigh Chopper

I've got these.

Oh, sorry, thought we were talking about soccer boots...my bad!

I've got a couple pair of puma something or others. I like em. Was thinking about getting a pair of the sambas or another pair of pumas.

I dig these. cheap ($40) indestructible, and low-key. plus, the stylin' "ollie pad" keeps the strap from wearing away the side of your shoe.

Yeah I've tried cycling shoes, but we're talking a whole different game here. I was throwing out a non cycling specific that was low profile, more or less non offensive aesthetically, and had a reasonably stiff sole. I know sambas are popular for clips and straps so i figured the pulsados were along the same line but had a stiffer sole in my experience. Cheers.

Before getting the EM Comps I swore by Asics Onitsuka Tigers and at $85 they're a much cheaper alternative.
