bf vs messengers

so i walked into a bar last night and bumped into a cat i haven't seen in a minute. he told me he has a race set up for tomorrow. i then told him about a race that a bikeforum kid was having next weekend. he said: "oh...does bikeforum kids...they're p******s...you know whats up...you put your time in". i guess i'll leave it at that. i've been a messenger for over 5yrs and only a bf kid for a few months. as a messenger/bikeforums person i dont know what to think about the statement. just wondering what everyones thought on the topic is. peace.

I always love it how some people speak as if you have to put in X amount of time as a messenger to be able to ride a damn bike. thats cool, knock someone down to build yourself up. I bet hes a cool dude though and more than likely wouldnt be that big of a clown to a BF person if he just met them.

Bikes: vintage carlton track, vintage carlton tourer(fixed)

open to all p*****s:

relay teams of 2 will be chosen at random... i'll do my best to pair up BF kids with Messengers,
so at long last these polarized tribes can come together, rejoicing in the one common trait we all share:

we are dorks.

Pretty much so, there's easier ways to make a buck than being a messenger. At the heart of it we're all bike geeks.

I didn't realise there was a rift between bikeforum frequenters and bike messengers. That sounds a little silly to me. I mean, BF isn't a job or anything - it's a means of communications.

It certainly seems like some messengers are getting angry that they're not as obscure as they used to be and that Buffy Suburbia can get a messenger bag at the gap. Get over it. We like bikes, isn't that enough?

Bikes: Various by application

I laugh about the way bikeforums posters have in many threads worried over whether or not they are in fact posengers or fakengers, cause thats funny.

So far no one has been good enough to live up to my definition of posenger or fakenger ( besides wearing the clothes you think are messenger and riding the bike you think is messenger, you must also go downtown and pretend to deliver packeges for 10 hours a day )

When someone does that, I'll laugh at them for that

lol. I think a lot of people define a posenger as someone who 1) knows what a bike messenger is and 2) rides a fixed gear.

Ok, I don't wear proper messenger clothes, but rather bibs and and a jersey nor ride a fixed gear (rather a cyclocross) but I'm on the bike just riding around Toronto for several hours a few times a week, even though I live 75 kilometres north-east of town. What does that make me?

(anyone remember Medusa's from 89-91? hahaha! Mix that with a little bottle of something from Belmont Liquors and viola! Juicebar gone bad...)

that's where i went after "putting in my time"
I like Ceya's and Mareesha's responses. This one person saying something to that effect - c'mon, maybe he had a low ticket day. Or, maybe he just really hates everyone. Either way, does it really matter? Is this person gonna stop you from riding?
whatever.

PS> if Juvi-kyle responds here, it is because he is defending a sense of lameness like no other. That kid is THE worst.
