Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

CHI: Where was ever'body!?

Was riding around all weekend; saw nobody out riding a fix in Chicago. Where has everybody gone? I know it rained a little on Sunday but come on. I usually see you guys all over the place. I'm on the black IRO with the blue rubbers and tape.

Rode to Evanston/Wilmette on Saturday with the girl. Rode to Chinatown on Sunday.

Anyboey been to Turin of late? I'm surprised at how much stuff they have now -- really nice selection of stuff. They actually have the Chrome knickers in stock amongst other Chrome goods. Complete selection of Sidi's. Lots of stuff I haven't seen all in one store in a long time. Had a surprising amount of track stuff -- Phil Wood (blue hubs), kashimax top tube protectors, etc. Almost Performance-like but better.

Not to mention that Independent Fabrications roadie that I'm still drooling over. A few IF frames laying around and whatnot.

They re-did the store and all. Not bad at all.

Yeah, I was there the other day. The sales floor seems a little messier but they do have a lot more stuff. I did dig the blue Phils in the glass case though. Not sure who they're gonna sell that stuff to. Not a whole lot of fixed riders over on the north side of Chicago. Still a cool shop though.

Bikes: Davidson pursuit a.k.a. "La Monkey"

let's see:
friday - got home around six from work then i took a shower and relaxed until i went and got lit later on.
saturday - woke up a little late but got up in time to watch the world cup. watched ufc then went to the abby to enjoy cage and mr. lif.
sunday - stayed in until about 9pm. i then went to a local bar for some refreshments.

i think a better question is, where were you? how come you dont ride where i ride?

i was at a ping pong tournament all weekend. no kidding!

still managed to get 30 miles or so in, though. and a really nasty flat that tore up the sidewall of my front tire, requiring a new tire and a rather uncomfortable long walk home in my bike shoes.
