Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

The tour. . . .

controversy before the race. . .Ullrich and Basso amongst others taken out of the race for alleged doping in Spain!
https://sports.espn.go.com/oly/tdf200...ory?id=2505973

It's Landis' race to lose now.

The mods will probably either lock this thread or move it, but yeah. It seriously sucks. I remember the 1998 tour with Festina getting the boot. This will be 10 times worse.

it is kinda odd that this is a neighborhood (fg/ss) in an 'internet community' but we can't discuss the tour here...

He's out because Astana-Wurth can't field enough riders.

i agree, it sucks. we all know they're all doped but you don't pull the contenders the day before the tour. leblanc says now we'll have a clean tour, what a bunch of ****.... and what about bjarne riis and his team loyalty ethic, what happened to standing up for your players? i love france but damned napoleanic law -you're guilty till proven innocent.

mods, this thread really offends me. as a member of the ss/fg community i can't abide by people talking about real cycling on this forum. please move/remove this thread or i will be forced to cry about it.

You don't know jack about pro endurance sports and esp. road cycling... obviously.
Probably all of the the front half of the field dopes... But it doesn't matter much as they prolly do the same drugs. Better ability, more and better training, timing your form, pushing yourself to the limit on the right day, having a good team, not making tactical mistakes... that sort of stuff is what decides races. I guess it sucks for the guys who are not willing to take drugs.

I say take it out in the open. If your rider is looking fatigued...I want to see the DS roll up in the car and at 50 yards shoot him in the ass with a dart gun loaded with amphetamines. That'll get the boys up the hill.
