so many sweet jams referenced in this thread!!

sleep's holy mountain is my favorite of theirs. om is sweet.

does anyone know if torche's new album is out yet? i still can't really get into the record. i saw them live and what is on the record is so flimsy in comparison.

saviours is on tour currently with the sword. yes, it will own. i do sort of think the sword is a bit gimmicky though.

electric wizard anyone?

Msngr 07-05-06 04:29 PM

what the HELL does any of this have to do with ss/fg?
somebody move this thread before i vomit on my computer.

here's my name drop of the day, I work with the guy who is doing noise in pig destroyer, and he's also the same guy who was involved with hatebeak.

Gnarboots 07-06-06 08:07 AM

Yeah! Death to False Metal!
And may it be restated that if you don't understand the fraternity between metal and FG riding, you never will. Just once, try bombing through downtown traffic with headphones blasting "The Wizard" by Sabbath. Come back and tell me that you didn't ride better.

thiskidgotmoxie 07-06-06 08:28 AM

metal pedantry is pure ******baggery

He was also on the first Anthrax album, which I bought and rode home with on a bike. There, now this thread is about bikes.

isotopesope 07-06-06 10:02 AM

this thread inspired me to blast discordant axis last night while i worked on my sister's bike.

You mean Khanate (pronounced CON-EIGHT, I used tosay Con-Uh-Tay so for those of you wondering, there you go). I saw them ****s live and F-CK was it loud and I forgot ear plugs.

Alright, I'm calling it right now, Enslaved and Emperor is the best black metal ever to be created. Don't even try to question it. Everything else is bull****.

Haha, Corrupted, Japanese metal rules. Moi Dix Mois? YES.

killsurfcity 07-06-06 10:36 AM

one word... EARTH.

but anthems is my fave for sure.

Fixie Kevin 07-06-06 04:21 PM

High on Fire are awesome...their new one, Blessed Black Wings, is unbelievable!
Also check out Matt Pike's new band, Kalas. A little more on the punk side. They used to be called Scum Angel.
By the way, I think the Sword are amazing; I haven't stopped playing their cd since I got it.
Just because they're new to the metal scene and don't "look the part" doesn't mean they're not sincere.
They're playing here in San Fran next week.
I'm going to see Early Man tonight.
Thank God people are still listening to Metal...
**** Hip-Hop!!

False Metal: The Financial and Farcical Return of Heavy Metal by Dave Burns

Zurich 07-06-06 10:21 PM

I'll be the first to admit it. I don't know much about metal. That said, I do know that I don't like HOF at all. Please refrain from ripping on me for having an opinion. Moving on.... lets talk some dragonforce...crazy **** that dragonforce.

kyle! 07-06-06 11:50 PM

sorta off topic but i just watched this and it made me happy. glad i busted it out.

http://www.7thhouse.com/news/contest...ain_dvd_sm.jpg

disclaimer: i fully realize the potential for danzig-bashing or hating on me for even speaking his name but this old ****** was my hero before i had pubic hair. just sayin'. but yeah he really is a ****** when it comes down to it, he just made good music for a little bit('77-'88-ish???)

mrpete 07-07-06 06:20 AM

I don't post here often but what a thread! Anyone into Mistress, Iron Monkey, Anaal Nathrakh? D

Discordance Axis have already been mentioned but they are one of my favourites...

we're not blasting you for your opinion, but that you were stating that they were "fake ass metal." which they clearly aren't, and now that you've said that you don't know much about metal, has argued our point for us. thank you.

also moving on, dragon force kind of week, check out hammer fall, or man-o-war, much more epic.

Somehow this is my favorite thread ever.

isotopesope 07-07-06 07:56 AM

they're obviously talented technically, but i find dragonforce to be so gimmicky. not as bad as early man though. they're way too derivitive for me. some of their songs sound like they took motorhead, early metallica, and black sabbath songs and just changed the riffs around a bit. i saw them and the sword awhile back... the sword was great, but early man was so bland. goodness, i love heavy metal, but i really am starting to think metal is becoming the new extreme-o and weed is becoming the new coke. hahahaha

old danzig is sweet.

anyone heard deadbirds? or anyone listen to buried at sea?
