Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Chicagoans, if you trembled in fear of LoFarkas making a withering remark, post your "Wednesday Night Ride?" threads there! We're having a blast discussing Oury grips, the Summer Race Series, and teadoggg! Thanks to absntr for making it happen!

An homage, if you will.

All praise and inspiration be to 128 for getting me off my arse to get it done.

can I ask: Why? The 'CHI:' prefix wasn't working? Isn't this already pretty much the Chicago fixie-riders forum?

Vanilla. I used it a while ago for another project. Then 128 used it for SFFG, and that reminded me that I wanted to do something similar for Chicago. And Vanilla was in v1.0 so it was a no-brainer.

128 -- No idea but my install doesn't have that issue. It doesn't have the "go to discussions" or "go to categories" issue. I'm thinking that it might be some odd bug with one of the plugins. I don't have nearly as many as you set up so could be one of those?

minkah - alot of the people on the SF forum dont like dealing with bikeforums drama and bs. its brought a lot of people out of the woodwork. i imagine its the same in chicago. plus we can sell each other crap without having koffee shut down threads.

and we can cuss like pirates.

and we can swear.
+1.

Since I'm on SFFG, I love how friendly it is and great for fostering local community. I want some of that for the local Chicago community and bringing in more of the locals together rather than be slightly displaces by the vastness of BF. The silliness, friendliness and swearing is welcome. A place to let our hair down and not get bent out of shape.

I have a huge amount of respect for BF. I've been here since 02 and love this place. But I want something for the locals.

i was stalking the site over the weekend but was waiting to see if there would be some sort of official announcement or post here. i have been a bit quite online for a bit other than all the (non bike related) stuff i spent the weekend trying to get rid of.

also had some time off, and not surprisingly i do less posting when i am not at work.
