Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

krypto evolution question

i know, this thread has already been made a hundred times. but i used the search and no one has discussed this particular issue directly that i can see:

the slightly mobile black plastic piece on the crossbar of the krypto evolution u-lock seems entirely pointless, and only seems to get in the way. would there be any negative repercussions from breaking this off? and if not, has anyone done this/does anyone know of a simple way to do this?

Seems like it'd be a bigger pain than it's worth to try and break it off, but your lock'll still work if you do.

Except you'll prolly get boogers in it.

Pull and twist the orange rubbery part off and the plastic piece will slide off.
