One thing that's been pointed out in some of the recumbent threads is that since you can't stand on the pedals, you need good low gears for hills. That might be the biggest drawback to a recumbent fixed-gear bike.

I suppose with the adjustable boom on the pictured fixed 'bent (assuming it has one like it should) one could tension the chain without ever removing the rear wheel....
