Bikes: highly modified specialized crossroads and GT hybrid (really a [formerly] 12-speed bmx cruiser, made before 'hybrid' took on its current meaning), as yet unmodified redline 925, couple of other projects
there's a top speed thread somewhere here, according to that it seems like a brave rider with an aerodynamic position and a long enough hill can hit the mid-60's...

Don't be an ignorant fool. I take GREAT OFFENSE of a term that is a racist and deragatory description used to humiliate and degrade black people used in such an easygoing manner. Anyone that can use THAT word so easily is just as racist and ignorant as the people who regularly used that word against black people.
If you're puzzled, you're just as bad as the one I had to kick off these boards.

the peloton was going over 40 at times on the flat champs elisse today. 60+ is no problem on a hill.
get on a road bike, find a long, high grade descent where you can really get going. shift into 52x12 and pedal away. pretty much anyone will hit 40 easily.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was FL... We'll see.
BTW, the top speed pro roadies hit on the longest steepest alpine descents on closed roads is over 70mph. Scary *****. They hit 40mph in a mass sprint to the line even on a flat.

Except that Pereiro did not get to celebrate the way a champion of the TDF should have. He did not get to stand on the podium with the yellow jersey in Paris. I am sure he will still be thrilled, but it is not the same.
Still have to wait for that B sample to come out though.
Also I love some of the commentary from the Phonak officials saying that if true then Landis will be fired. As if team officials would not have known if he took something.

Its great, because as a corporation, you have all the rights of a person, with none of the responsiblity or accountability!
This is 4 days after I saw the owner of Phonak on TV with a "GO PHLOYD!" shirt on. There is literally not enough time in the day for a pro cyclist on the tour to secretly store, prepare and administer drugs... People must know.
I thought maybe since he was an ex-mennonite he might be above the whole doping thing. Oh well, I think I like oscar pereiro more, and he made an even bigger comeback that somehow wasn't nearly as publicized...

This year's TdF was a total farce. first, all the best riders are banned so a mutilated field shows up at the start... then a spectacular display of the worst team tactics EVER. How was Pereiro Sio allowed to reel back 30 min??? (Props to him, though. He somehow stood his ground after that. And, as opposed to a certain FL, he admitted that he got lucky with the yellow's team's idiocy) And then, somebody in a team car also allowed Landis to crawl his way back. And then, surprise, surprise, FL tests positive for testosterone. Who would've thunk, eh?

We should remember that high blood levels of testosterone (which is what the test shows) in and of themselves prove nothing.

You should know that Amish and Mennonite are two different things. They emerged from the same anabaptist roots but have had strong sectarian acrimony. I'm not sure what its like these days, or how similar the cultural practices are, but they definitely identify themselves in two mutually exclusive groups.
Also, bikes.

Seems like the "guilty until proven innocent" mantra has reared its ugly head again. Here's to hoping things are all cleared up after sample B is tested.

If the B sample comes back positive, will LBS' take back all the Phonak jerseys they've sold? It's been less than 7 days...

It makes absolutely no sense.
1. I heard that the actual testosterone levels were lower than normal, it was just the T/E ratio that was high.
2. Why would you inject hormones then go and win a stage by 8 minutes when you know for a fact you are going to be tested...specifically for what you have done.
I am not saying for certain that it isn't true, just that it makes no sense.
