Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

this is pretty funny, but I don't think she should get a ticket or anything, that is ridicules. if they want people to have a brake lever connected to a brake caliper they should say exactly that. why can nobody make laws that make sense?!

it is amazing how the law wants you to skid your tire to show you can stop. and then they want you to put a front hand brake on your bike so you can pull it real hard and... flip over your handle bars. good luck making a front brake skid, unless you can making your bike go backwards. which i guess only fixed gear bikes can do...

oh not it makes sense. everyone ride their bike backwards and use the front brake as a rear brake so you can skid the front tire.

I'll just reply here instead of the other threads.
The dictonary definition of "brake" defense could have been blown out of the water easily. All the prosecution would have had to do is bring up the word "Brakeless" as a commonly used adjective to describe fixed gear bikes without calipers.

Install a brake or quit using the word brakeless.
