Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

What I learned in Montreal

1. Cities where girls ride bikes in skirts are awesome.

2. Bicycle friendly cities make me happy.

3. Poutine is good.

Check out any of the cycling races during the Out Games? If you just got back home, you were probably around during that.

i didn't get to check out the outgames at all. We probably should have, but by the time we had seen everything we wanted to, it was time to go. there were a lot of very fit gay men (and probably women, but we saw more men) walking around.

I liked toronto last time I was there (i spent my 24th birthday there. ate at a really good jerk chicken place) but I never really got to be a tourist there. that might be next on the list.

I ate at mondo fritz. I've eaten really good poutine in quebec city, but I was drunk that time, so it tasted better then. Funny how that works. I heard mondo fritz is the only vegetarian poutine, which meant it was the only place my girlfriend was willing to try it. hung out at le bifetek (sp?) afterwards. seemed cool.

I didn't notice any bad potholes, but I wasn't riding.

7. Its the land of a thousand old peugots. Lots of velo sports and raleighs too. all steel. all ridden nearly into the ground.

That was our ultimate holy grail. We had been looking for it to eat at for two days. Was supposed to be only up the street, but we went for miles unable to find the 'yellow' sign people kept saying to look for. Amazingly, we found it to be right around the corner from our Hostel, and we had passed it about 30 times without ever noticing.
The find required a victory photo:
