philly bikes for rent?

anyone know of a good/cheap place to rent a bike for 5 days? any place in particular that might have fixed or single speed bikes.

oh, and any vegan places that can't be missed. thanks!

this'll be my first time there and i can't justify spending 80 dollars each way to bring my bike when the round trip ticket only cost 140.

you could try trophy bikes... i know they rent but i am not sure if you'll do any better than a hybrid (or maybe a road bike). i don't think the fixed gear rental market is quite large enough to be profitable.

For a full vegan menu, Try Horizons (611 S. 7th Street, that is just south of South Street), they are the best. If you want cheaper, try Govinda's, on Broad and South. Not as good, but definitely delicious. For fast food ish stuff, there is Gianna's on 6th street just above South. Definitely inexpensive and vegan friendly, but make sure you order the veg-specfic versions of everything. They also have meat versions. The websites will show you full menus and all that jazz.

Not sure about bike rentals though.

I have friends from out of town that were going to rent bikes from Trophy. But it was something like $75 for a week. Seems crazy to me. They ended up walking instead.

you musn't forget that this one will be in town for five days. give them many many choices so they can eat like a philadelphian... meaning all the damn time.

Essene on 4th just south of Bainbridge has a really nice vegan buffet that's 5.99 a pound. Quick, tasty, affordable. I eat there before every race. +1 on Kingdom of Vegetarians too. Their vegan dim sum is unbelievable!

yay, somebody bumped it.
This thread should be linked to every time somebody says they are visiting philly because it has the best of philly eating. that city is too kind to its veg/vegans.

woah! thanks for all the good info. this'll be my first time seeing the city and i was hoping to avoid mass transport if at all possible.

i'll be there from the 17th to the 22nd with my girlfriend visiting a friend. if anything else notable is going on during that time i'd love to hear about it.

shameless plug: Tides (from Boston) will be playing at the Plan B House on the 22nd. they're a heavy band in the vein of ISIS. this is their first tour of the us and they're doing it on veggie oil.
