I just placed an order for a Bianchi Pista, according to my LBS I got the last chrome 59cm from the Ohio warehouse. I know it's cooler to build a bike, but I wanted to get off my mountain bike and on a fixed gear before the weather craps out. Thanks goes out to the people who contributed to past threads that helped me make a choice, there's enough bikes to choose from that it makes it tough.
I do have an old '91 Bridgstone MB-4 that I'd like to convert to a SS this winter, should be fun.

Props on the pista, mine is here next to me in my cubical. The size we have has parallel seat tube and head tube angles! Shizam!!!1

I'm not sure if the MB-4 is as fantabulus as the MB-1,2 but you may want to leave it stock... especially if its got vertical dropouts.

Very cool, nice to here your happy with your pista, I did notice the geometry, 75 degrees on both seat and head. I probably could have went with either 57 or 59, but I rode a 59 and it felt right, I'm 6'1" with a 34" inseam and long arms, I think I'll be happy with my choice.
As for the Bridgestone, I went down and looked it over closer, your right, it has semi-vertical drops, looks like I'll have to pick another victim for a project, an old 23" road bike would make a nice winter steed.

I just ordered my second Steamroller frameset, the first one being a great bike, except for the fact that it doesn't really fit me. It's taken me a year and a half to admit to myself that it's too small. Hooray for riding a bike that fits.

i miss my pista. sold it at the beginning of the year but in all honestly it fit me about as good as a bike could and handled so nice. the steel was actually very lively and i liked it a lot. congrats- have fun on it!

I just ordered a 57cm Pake frameset.

Very exciting. I'll do the build later in the year - velocity rims (brown) and phil wood hubs.

Not sure about bars though. I'm a long-time urban MTB rider (slicks and rigid). I think drop/track bars might be a step too far from riser bars. I'm thinking bull-horns, but not sure.

Any ideas?

get an open faced stem that allows you to easily change bars without messing up your bar wrap. experiment. i like bullhorns for skidding/trackstanding, drops for going fast, risers for visibility.

Pista's are cool. The chrome ones are even cooler. Enjoy that bike. I looked into getting that a while go, but went with the Fuji Track I have now, because it was a bit cheaper. Pista's are sexy bikes though! (chrome)
