Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Your probably right, but just enough to be able to enjoy it. Something about the lack of traffic on the streets, the new music in my ears; an all around a positive experience.

I was having fun the other night until I got cut off by a car about 1.5 miles from my apartment, then I wound up on my back, with my right foot still in the clipless pedals, couldn't get the damn thing out, tried standing up anyway and then fell again, next thing you know I am seeing flashing lights and a cop car slowly approaching me. They approach me, I explain the pedal thing best I could, they help me out of it and then tell me to walk the bike home. Told me that I need to follow the same rules as cars and that I should not be riding drunk.

Atleast you didn't get hurt or a get a DUI. I just had enough beers to at first struggle to find the motivation to ride, but after a mile or so I was so much enjoying it that by the time I was near my home, I didn't want to get off my bike. And the great thing is I made it home safely, burned off a few pints, and didn't suck off the petroleum breast while doing it.

I almost goit a DUI on a bike. I was riging home from a friends party when I fell over trackstanding at a light. Blue lights behind me. I explained to the cop that I was being socially responsible as BUI'ing can only kill myself, not someone else, and I was just a few blocks from home. The cop, being a nice guy, escorted me home with his lights flashing. It must have been an interesting sight, it probably looked like I was trying to outrun the cop on my bike, yet stopping for red lights.
On the other hand, tripping on a bike.....fantastic. The first intentional acid trip was experienced on a bicycle in Switzerland.

Her stop comes first and I decide that I am going to just hop out also and bike home. Dumb!

Riding really drunk is dumb. But riding after a few pints can be fun, especially when it ends with a reacharound.

Last night I raced my friends who were driving home from the bar. I beat them by 10 minutes but I wasn't really DRUNK drunk, just drunk.
