Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Last night I was talking about how I REALLY want a full tron road biking team kit complete with bibs, jersey, socks, gloves, helmet and zany sunglasses like those spys. You could pimp out your bike and outfit with lights and be the coolest kid on the mainframe.

I hvae briko bat sunglasses from Nashbar coming in the mail. They look multi-purpose and are polyblahblah. Something like $50 after being near 50% off.

i bought a pair of polarized teva sunglasses from marshalls for 12.99. light, no scratch lenses, and they are actually not too bad looking.

Bikes: Steel geared. Steel Fix.

These will definitely keep the sun out of your eyes and won't fall off in a hurry.

And these will be good if you also want to prevent swallowing bugs.

head to your local hardware store, where, for $7, you can buy a perfectly reasonable looking pair of safety glasses that won't fall off and are impact rated.

Bikes: IRO Mark V Pro, No-name brand full-suspension mtb (heavy as a tank, but takes a thrashing)

I use Oakley Monster Dogs, despite the dumb name I really like them, mostly because of the large but not huge lenses and nice coverage. I am partial to Oakley because of the high optical quality, because I also use my sunglasses for flying. They are pretty reasonably priced for Oakley. They have some pricier ones with vents and stuff that I think also look pretty cool and might be more useful for cycling. As far as impact resistance, they are tested for that and are shatter resistant but probably aren't like safety glasses or anything.
