Retem 08-25-06 11:10 PM

Berating a dyslexic for bad spelling or grammar is akin to berating a person with a lame leg for walking to slow.

Try to have a little patience and realize that the rest of the world will never meet the standards that you set for yourself.

Understood. Thanks for the input, Ziemas...I had no idea.

I struggle with face to face communications as an autistic person (no, I don't like to talk about it, either Retem.;) ) I probaly overcompensate with my writing, as it is one of the only ways for me to sustain "normal" conversations. I am hyperlexic, others are dyslexic. There are more similarities than differences here, I suspect; the common language we speak is music.

I have recorded over 700 songs in the past 15 years, Retem. My door is open if you ever need me.

Sincerely,

~James

Retem 08-25-06 11:54 PM

I had an autistic friend in high school crazy kid always asked me to tell him to draw something his pictures looked like photos even if he couldn't see the cat infront of him I think he ended up a mechanical engineer

yeah we speak music althought it is ethnocentric usually it is not a bad thing we carry things on from our parents it is how our culture is perpetuated

Serendipper 08-25-06 11:59 PM

Do0de, I am mixed black/white/indian/hispanic.

It doesn't get any more ethnic than that!

Cheers:beer:

TNCLR 08-26-06 12:05 AM

Retem 08-26-06 12:07 AM

what would you like to discuss then huh?

Serendipper 08-26-06 12:08 AM

I may be old school...but I kick ASS on Reason.

Retem 08-26-06 12:11 AM

reason is fun isn't it

schnee 08-26-06 08:29 AM

thanks chris I have been getting a hard time from someone named serendipper and schnee
Sorry, but it's not hard to punctuate correctly, and if you can't take a gentle tease with a smiley then you're far too sensitive.

You are not a unique snowflake, you do not deserve special treatment, you are not above being teased.

You are neglecting to keep in mind that many people have dyslexia; a condition which can make spelling and reading almost impossible.
Hey, guess what, I'm dyslexic and ADD! Does that mean I have more of a right to pick on other people for spelling than anyone else? Sweet! :D

Retem 08-26-06 12:31 PM

schnee there was another guy that was given me it harder than you I just couldn't come up with the name so I went with the most recent

sorry if I offended

it wasn't just you and dipper it was a couple others that were more harsh with me earlier which spurred this thread on

Badass. I wanted a bassman, but finances drove me to a MusicMan Sixty-Five instead. I dream of having a hammond, but soft synths will have to suffice for the time being.

Retem 08-26-06 01:26 PM

reason has a pretty good b3 sound if yused with a little effects most of my synths are on my laptop ;)

and if you trolll craigslist you can find bassmans

I actually bought my bassman cab off some guy with an old junk bass head for 200 bucks they I sold the bass head to a local music store for a hundred bucks and payed 300 for my bassman head

total for my stack 500 bucks but you really really reall have to know what you are doing with vintage gear

pm me and I will give ya some tips

thurstonboise 08-26-06 02:34 PM

Thanks, but I'm happy with my setup right now. I've got a really good amp tech here in Boise who seems to be afraid of money. I hardly have time to play what I currently have let alone search for new gear. It's just a hobby for me.

No, it does not.

If you think it does, it just shows how immature you are.

sorry if I offended
Dude, I'm sorry if I offended you. I was lightly teasing you, not trying to make you feel bad.

The thing is, on the Internet it's hard to tell who's really got a functional issue (say, English as second language, or a disability) or who's lazy. Lots of folk on the web are lazy. They squish out half-baked crap and expect everyone else to connect the dots for them.

When you say 'I'm a product of California schools', then, sorry to say, it looks like you're being lazy and making excuses. If you can't write clearly, that will hold you back in many, many ways in life, the least of which is your job prospects. Every post you make on the Internet is an opportunity to improve on your written language skills. Every sentence you read is an example or a lesson.

If you're really hugely dyslexic, then if I were you I'd put that in your sig. People will understand a lot better then.

The truth is, if you want to be understood, you have to be clear. There's a reason punctuation exists in type, and that's because there are no verbal or visual cues to go along with the words. If you don't put those in, sorry, you're gonna get flak, that's the way it is, and you can't make everyone treat you nicely.
