eai cog to miche hub?
 

can i screw a EAI cog on a Miche track hub, are the threads the same or will i strip the hub??

not all cogs work on miche.. but i can never remember what is what.. its been covered on here though

miche is french thread it is better to get their carrier and cog set up

new miche hubs have standard threading for the cog. it's the lockring that's different, i think bike works nyc has the carrier and cog for a decent price.

ISO standard threads: 1.375 Inch x 24tpi (34.92mm x 1.058mm), fits English and Italian threaded hubs.

English thread 1.37 Inch x 24tpi.

sloppy is spot on. Miche is not French, it's not all that funny. That being said, their carrier system is really sweet.

This forum needs a FAQ and that question needs to be in it.

The FAQ also needs the skid patch chart.

lowest common denominator. times two if it's odd and you skid with either foot forward.

i have miche hubs and i can never remember it either.. for the record i think soma cogs are ISO as well

the carrier system gets mixed reviews when it comes to skidding on it

I run 45 x 17

Miche is iso comp. Campy cogs and shimano works fine. THe lockrings im not so sure but shimano lock ring wont work in a miche huba but the campy one will do just fine.

okay I stand corrected I have also seen soma cogs that are a weird thread cut something in between ital and english... so it will fit both

i think what youre thinking of is... iso cogs can be fit onto non-iso hubs (not sure if this is suggested...but they'll screw on..) but not vice versa

yeah I wouldn't suggest it I just stick with tha good stuffs nothing funny phil wood and suntour

if it helps the op, i have primatos and i have run eai and surly cogs with no issue. as far as lockrings go, i have a miche one, so i don't know about running anything else.

ok, so the EAI cog will in fact screw on that hub right? I know that the lock ring is different thread so i bought one, i just didn't want to have to buy that carrier for the miche hub, i only want to use myEAI cog that i have on my DA track hub. thanks

I'm not certain about the official thread compatibility (ISO...whatever) but I've been using EAI cogs on my Miche Primatos for a year without having any problems with stripped threads or ceased cogs.

So, yes...they work together okay.

this is the only firsthand claim that i've seen as far as damage due to the thread incompatibility. as pointed out, the threading pitch is the same (24 tpi) but the miche hubs/cogs have a diameter (at the threads) that is ~0.2 mm larger than your DA hub. this had never caused issues for me (using a DA cog on a primato hub) but according to Dirk, Karlsruhe (Germany) it's possible.
