Seems that this information is so highly confidential that even the dealers doen't know where the frames are made !!

Maybe the CIA or the NSA know something about Bareknuckle frames :D

I always just assumed that the "Made in Italy" thing with the Bareknuckle frames was sort of like the "Made In Australia" sticker on some of the models of Rode microphones. The mics are basically made in a factory in China and then some finishing assembly and QA is done in the Australian factory. As far as I know, "Made In" only refers to the country where the final work was done on the product. The Bareknuckle frame could be almost completely made in Taiwan or elsewhere, but if they do some finishing work and paint them in Italy, then I think that they qualify as "Made In Italy." I could be totally wrong on this, though.

I really hate to think that it matters to anyone. TIG welding is pretty much the same process no matter where you go, and the "quality difference" between the two becomes even more marginal when you're using good steel as a control.

For some, it's not the quality of the welds so much as it is the quality of the work environment provided for those doing the work. That's not to say that Taiwanese manufacture = sweatshop labor, but a lack of transparency in the manufacturing process is something that tends to raise eyebrows.

Business Cycles has the Bareknuckle (Nessuno) for $580, and Speedgoat sells it for $575, both pre-shipping. A few months ago, some shops in SF were selling them for closer to $500.

Bikebiz has them for for $549, no idea about shipping. You'd also have to factor in customs/duty w/ the B.J.

It's a non-debate in a lot of cases though. The Bareknuckle's a plain track frame, whereas the Bob Jackson looks like a nice fixed gear roadish frame. Any idea of the specific geometry, btw?

"Off the peg" BJ's (heh) tend to be a bit slack from the few I've viewed on the interweb. Custom ones are, well, custom.

Refried Cycles in SF has BK's for $500. + about $35 shipping. Find me a Bob Jackson for that price and I'll buy you one too.

I was at refried this weekend, they're now $525, still, not bad.
