they come from outer space. end of discussion.
|
I thought they were made by C.H.U.D.s deep under the surface of the earth.
|
Bareknuckles aren't made. They are, and have always been.
|
Ok, I sent e-mails to everybody thet sell this frame online.
The only one who have been so kind to answer me is Hubjub (big thanks to you! ) I quote their mail " Hi Aldone, good question! The frame is made in Italy, imported to the US, and then shipped to the UK. I asked my US distributor if they could drop-ship to me from Europe, but they won't give me any more details of the supplier. All I can tell you is that the frames are built in Venezia. I would be interested to find out more, too. You are welcome to write again. Best, Will / HUBJUB" Seems that this information is so highly confidential that even the dealers doen't know where the frames are made !! Maybe the CIA or the NSA know something about Bareknuckle frames :D |

I always just assumed that the "Made in Italy" thing with the Bareknuckle frames was sort of like the "Made In Australia" sticker on some of the models of Rode microphones. The mics are basically made in a factory in China and then some finishing assembly and QA is done in the Australian factory. As far as I know, "Made In" only refers to the country where the final work was done on the product. The Bareknuckle frame could be almost completely made in Taiwan or elsewhere, but if they do some finishing work and paint them in Italy, then I think that they qualify as "Made In Italy." I could be totally wrong on this, though.
Non conosco niente |
I really hate to think that it matters to anyone. TIG welding is pretty much the same process no matter where you go, and the "quality difference" between the two becomes even more marginal when you're using good steel as a control.

I'm not being antagonistic, but how do you figure a Bob Jackson is cheaper?
The frame itself is more expensive, plus there's intercontinental shipping. |
how much is a bareknuckle? my money widget claims a Bob Jackson preshipping is $561... i thought the bareknuckles were $600?
http://www.bobjacksoncycles.co.uk/pr...roducts_id=307 ah.. plus $114 shipping.. im sure you could get one of our fellow nerds to pick it up and ship for less.. so total $675.. a BK shipped from business cycles would prob be $605 total id still rather have the BJ |
Business Cycles has the Bareknuckle (Nessuno) for $580, and Speedgoat sells it for $575, both pre-shipping. A few months ago, some shops in SF were selling them for closer to $500.
|
k.. ill update..
for less then $100 more you could get a bob jackson in a plethora of colors shipped in 5-7 days |
Bikebiz has them for for $549, no idea about shipping. You'd also have to factor in customs/duty w/ the B.J.
It's a non-debate in a lot of cases though. The Bareknuckle's a plain track frame, whereas the Bob Jackson looks like a nice fixed gear roadish frame. Any idea of the specific geometry, btw? |
"Off the peg" BJ's (heh) tend to be a bit slack from the few I've viewed on the interweb. Custom ones are, well, custom.
Refried Cycles in SF has BK's for $500. + about $35 shipping. Find me a Bob Jackson for that price and I'll buy you one too. |

this is almost exactly the geometry i'm interested in...i'm just not sure on seat tube length yet, what's your standover height? |
http://www.visitordesign.com/pony.jpg
http://www.visitordesign.com/paul-ends.jpg looks a little different and has a steeper gearing now. not sure what the standover is. will check later. |
I still want whatever is orange and green in the background there

does your rear tire touch your seattube if you move it all the way forward in your track ends? |
