Is anyone here in London? Do you know of anywhere to get most of the above bikes? I think I have to go for either the Bianchi Pista or the Langster (seems you're all recommending Pista, as it's steel), but I'd like a greater range - the IRO in particular looks great.

Talk to Tony at IRO about shipping to London. That'd be your best bet.

1. Supposedly, SE Racing has been purchased by the same folks that own Mercier, Windsor, Motobecane, Dawes, et al. So, definitely a cheap bike. On Fujis factory website their BMX bikes are SE's. BikeDirect does Fuji rebranding for a lot of thier roadbikes. 6 degrees of.....................inbreeding ??? |

hope i get lucky. Looks nice, rides well. 42x17 is way low for me, I feel like I'm going so slow! I need to work on my spin. Guess this will do. :D |

Guess this will do. :D (Thanks, Sheldon Brown!) 42x17 with 170 cranks and 700x32 tires = 66.7 gear inches 42x17 with 170 cranks and 700x38 tires = 67.5 gear inches You also get a higher bottom bracket and a cushier ride in the deal. My singlespeed Cross Check is running 42x17 and 40mm tires. So fun. |
ok,
a couple from the u.k. on-one pompino http://www.m-gineering.nl/pompinoside1.jpg really nice comfy ride, with bosses for everything. cheap too. and, condor pista's http://www.condorcycles.com/showBike.php?id=46 really reputable shop - they've been making bikes for years and years. |
what colors do the IRO angus come in?

It does have an american bottom bracket shell, that's what I was pointing out by saying that it has one-piece cranks. With an American BB shell, it's easy to find blinging BMX parts to put in it, since a lot of BMX bikes use the same shell. don't know if it's been mentioned since the op, but just to point out that there are adapters to run a euro bb in an american bb shell, so you can run track cranks if you wish |
are these moth bikes any good? they are pretty cheap, has anyone had any experience with one?

Actually I already had, and he hasn't got back to me; but I have a feeling it actually won't be so economical, and might be quite difficult. Plus - the service for which he's reknowned can't be imported.
What are people's views on the fuji versus the bianchi pista? Are they very similar? And I came across today the Terry Dolan bikes - any views? I liked the ride (but not really budget).

For the women here: how important is it for a guy to ride a good looking bike? I had been thinking of the Specialised Langster, but I just don't like the look of it. And I do like riding a long and people telling me how nice my bike looks (happened today while test-riding the Bianchi and the Terry Dolan). Most people think it's ridiculous for that to be a serious concern - but did they not consider the looks when buying their car?

MORE updates one the pake. I've now ridden it on the track and on a long road ride. It performed well, not great, but respectably on the track. it felt solid and held a line while sprinting. wouldn't recommend it as a track specific bike, but if you want one bike to do it all it would work. and I put 140 miles on it yesterday. very comfy, rode a 45-17 (16.9 avg). nothing hurts today and nothing hurt yesterday. recommended. rode it to chicago, then did a race. i like it a lot. for the money i really like this bike. it just keeps getting better for me. a solid performer all around.

if you want to impress girls, i'd suggest a car. preferably a mustang or a corvette. you can always pull a quality girl with a 'vette. |
