new lockring wont fit?

i bought a new lockring for my miche hub, its SS and supposed to be a phill or campy compatible tread, it will only screw on like 1 tread and thats all! I dont want to use the that cheap chrome one that came with the hub, it will rust quickly.

are all the threads clean? are you cross threading it? are you trying to put it on clock wise? if it's not working hen return it and try a different lockring.
