did you replace your fork?

max-a-mill 09-08-06 09:37 AM

mind if i jack this a little?

what is the deal with these?

why they so poular these days?

seems like at NACCC's last weekend every third fixie i saw had a little front wheel. not many racers with them but tons of spectators. lots of them were the cool carbon spoked wheels too.

ch0mb0 09-08-06 10:53 AM

didja peep that dude with the black LEADER frame? I think he had one of those too. it looked neat.

shishi 09-08-06 10:55 AM

This would solve my tight clearance and toe overlap issues :D

chrisgraham81 09-08-06 11:19 AM

this is confusing but, are people putting them on 700c forks or are they getting 650c forks and putting them on 700c frames.

if so, post some pics.

sloppy robot 09-08-06 11:20 AM

700c

mmy question: what the diff between a 26 inch and 650? bigger? smaller? same?

dutret 09-08-06 11:25 AM

the 26" is about a centimeter smaller.

p3ntuprage 09-08-06 05:15 PM

26" mtb rims are 12mm smaller than 650c rims, but 26" is also used by tufo and others to refer to their 650c road tyres.

[and wait until you get to the joys of 700c/27"/28"/29"]

seriously. sod all of this.

I'm curious too.

when you put a 650 front wheel on it's a pursuit bike dude. Thats like a track bike times 10.

i think we are annoying dutret again

most people have them to do bar spins.. who doesnt like some bar spins

zerobug 09-08-06 07:28 PM

When retaining the original 700c fork you can do bar spins as sloppy states.

Also there are a lot of older tri/aero spoke wheels out there in 650c due to their popularity among triathletes.... so that may explain why there are a lot being snapped up cheap.

na975 09-08-06 09:03 PM

i got to take a pic. it's hawt!

650c wheel + 650 fork + no brakes= fun.

G0balistik 09-08-06 10:01 PM

I also recently switched to a 650 fork and front wheel. but it was already discussed in my aerospoke thread. With pics and all that jazz. But I did just repain my wheels and am working on repainting the frame. here is a pic of the sweet gold wheel now.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...k/DSCF0987.jpg

I originally wanted to make the fork/frame white. I though it would look cool with the gold wheels. But It may just look silly with my black cranks and stuff. Ill post pics when its finished.

na975 09-08-06 10:06 PM

how do you true that wheel? that looks like a 24" er

G0balistik 09-08-06 10:13 PM

Its a 650c, It just doesnt have a tire on it, and it behind the wheel in the foreground. Why would I "true" it?

na975 09-08-06 10:22 PM

joking of course

arevalo 09-08-06 11:22 PM

Is there any problems running 650c wheel on a 700c fork?

G0balistik 09-08-06 11:24 PM

It looks wonky
