Boston to providence route?

Anyone out there done a boston to providence ride? I was looking at going down via vfw parkway/route 1, and was wondering if anyone knew how sketchy/hilly this route was.

I've ridden R1 from Boston to Providence, it's about 40 odd miles. Not particularly sketchy and the hills weren't killer (although I was on a road bike).

Bikes: Old-ass gearie hardtail MTB, fix-converted Centurion LeMans commuter, SS hardtail monster MTB

I'm lazy, so I'd take the commuter rail.

Hey fatbat, I'd totally ride that route with you. Safety in numbers, right?! The R1 race, obviously, took that route.
