Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? hipster head gear question...

...where does a dude find just regular baseball hats with the classic plastic snap adjusty thing? Im serious.. my heads a little too small for full on trucker hats.. but i dont like fitted (they look stupid backwards, which is the only way they dont fly off my head when riding..) and that new velcro adjustable style is straigt up illigal..

i dont know if sheldon still has it as a signature.. but for a while he had something about these kind of hats backwards was a full nn moron indicator or something like that.. it made my day (coming from a guy with the top of a flagpole glued on his helmet..)

any ideas welcome... please dont turn this into a helmet thread.. sometimes i roll naked.. sue me

my guess would be at a baseball game, the street vendors still sell them even if sporting goods stores don't

funny you posted lids.. thats what made me ask.. that whole mall hat emporium didnt have a siingle old style hat..

maybe its an LA thing.. but the liquor stores, hat vendors, etc... all have new school hats..that chunky lettering is big too

i think youre right about ebay.. i did buy a dodgers one off there..but left it in the german themed bar during the world cup.. drinking at 11 am is a bad idea

trust me on this one, and make sure you leave the sticker on it. As Juvi said, rockin' the hat without the sticker is like riding fixed without a lockring.

Yeah, I think an adjustable hat revolution has taken place while nobody was looking. All I see are the weird bungy type material ones or the illegal velcro straps. The exception being the trucker hat, which is bordering on velcro strap territory in terms of social acceptability these days. A quick eBay search for "vintage baseball hat" brings up such gems as this:

that hat is for sure fitted... and you should know juvi is only serious half the time...

that van halen hat is nice.. i just really like meeting a hat in person before i commit.. ya know?

btw, lids has stretch fit trucker caps... there was for sure a quiet revolution

I've been rocking one for years now. Not that that makes you want to wear one any more. Or at all, now.

I use this, but I do NOT to wear it backwards. All the benefits of a baseball cap, without the obnoxious Thompson Twins size brim. I don't like the plastic snap band cuz it hurts my skull bump, so I took it out and replaced it with some nylon stretchy stuff. It stays on.

I have a fitted cap I picked up and cut down the brim with a bandsaw. Works out well.
