You're right 2 wrongs don't make a right. let's nuke him for suggesting they do!

i'm certainly not defending anybody here, but that's a bit of an exaggeration. i don't agree what a lot of what was said in that thread, but these are flames that dont need to be fanned. if we're gonna catch feelings off of any of this, let's apply them towards hoping adam gets better quickly.

fixedculture 09-20-06 12:32 PM

I wonder what he thinks about IRO frames

rustang 09-20-06 12:56 PM

so this is all because dude has an opinion that does not seem to coincide with your opinions? that may possibly be offensive and insensitive? seriously, where's the ****ing rope?

you guys are hillarious. you talk about how awesome it is riding in NYC traffic, weaving in out and out of cars, cutting off pedestrians and cars at intersections, getting all excited about these little videos, then you freak out when someone gets hit, or sometimes killed, and pretend it's just automatically because people don't know how to drive. how hypocritical can you get? i have no idea about 128's situation, and i'm not at all implying the two are the same (there's no excuse for the driver to leave the scene), but seriously, get a handle on reality, and accept the consequences of our actions. if dude hadn't have run a red, he would not have been hit, end of story. this isn't personal, it's math.

baldylocks 09-20-06 01:00 PM

What did happen to 128 anyway? I've heard a couple comments but I must've missed the thread.

DerekRI 09-20-06 01:01 PM

He was doing a no handed wheelie through a 4 lane intersection, while the light was red, flipping off both directions of traffic saying "HIT ME!!!!!!!!"... then he ran over a thumbtack, and lost control. That's how I understand it.

baldylocks 09-20-06 01:03 PM

Freakin cars man...^^

Thank you. That's really too bad. I'm also bummed that 128 decided not to deal with BF anymore, though I understand.

sers 09-20-06 01:32 PM

if i recall correctly, he had a buzz on after drinking a 6 pack over 4 hours, lost control going down a hill due to equipment failure (pedal?), and then took an emergency right at an intersection that had no stop sign or lights. he possibly turned wide, and then got hit by a speeding car.

if this is the case, then i wouldn't consider 128 to have been negligent.

ryand 09-20-06 01:38 PM

can we just start talking about charlie daniel's band again?

DerekRI 09-20-06 02:35 PM

Honestly, I don't care what happened, or who's fault it was... I still feel bad for the guy, and wish him a safe/full recovery. Why does anything else matter?

Oh, no no no. I've managed to ignore Bill O'Reilly pretty well, so I can't honestly say how well-informed he is. But I used to listen to Rush Limbaugh on the radio quite often (it's a long story) and I was constantly stunned by how ignorant he is of even the most basic facts of politics, not to mention the specific details of whatever story he was talking about. The last straw was when I actually heard him state, in so many words, that conservatives believe that people are naturally good. Which just happens to be one of the basic conservative critiques of modern liberalism (that it is based on foolish Rousseauian Romantic notions of the intrinsic goodness of man and the corruption of this goodness by evil society and its traditions). I could just see William F. Buckley, Jr. going out to the back yard to practice spinning in his grave.

(What? What's everybody looking at? It's still less incendiary than talking about brakeless riding, or anything to do with female fixed riders.)

O'Reilly is a c u n t, and a liar, and a god-damned ignoramus.
Also, he wears lady clothes, like, under his regular clothes.

i have no idea what this dude did to warrant some cryptic thread discussing his nuclear detonation, but i'm pretty sure whatever it was, i'd have thought it was funny. maybe that makes me an *******, or maybe it makes me someone who can easily seperate the internet from real life, who knows (and more to the point, who cares?)

nuclear detonation is a barrel of giggles--about as realistic a fantasy for joe-message-board-guy as getting a handjob from a snake. that said, the qualifying addition of "precision guided" brings the conversation back around to safety, common sense, a general respect for the public at large and an overly cautious fear for life, the environment and... well shucks, even the rules of war! hell. we could drill the thing for a brake, bolt one on, strap a sexy little catlike on the warhead and snap a blinky to a tail fin.

would that make the fact that a bomb was a bomb any different? would it really make the act of droping a bomb any safer?

every time we straddle a bike or drop a neutron bomb, we're taking a risk. at the moment of impact, forethought will do little to significantly affect the outcome of either situation in every instance--unless you're wearing a condom. then you're golden.
