Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

That Vittoria Stink

Bought my first Vittoria tire (Rubino Pro) the other day, now my entire house reeks! Do they add skunk musk and corpse to the rubber ? Does the smell ever go away? I always wondered what made Trackstar stink so bad...

I manhandled my new Rubinos a fair bit when I got them... no memory of any unusual stink. Maybe it's you, not the tyres?

Bikes: (see https://wildavis.smugmug.com/Bikes) Bianchi Veloce (2005), Nishiki Cascade (1992), Schwinn Super Sport (1983)

I have them on my road bikes, plus a couple of spare/old sets - never noticed any pong; sounds like you've picked up some dog-poo…

I destroyed Rubinos under three weeks. Not a fan. I'm at two months on Tservs.

Oh yeah, and I remember them smelling better than Tservs actually.

Tires aren't designed to be skidded.

Did you have the wire bead Rubinos or something? Because I skid a lot and mine hold up pretty damn well.
