Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Technically, I got it from a friend. Receiving stolen property isn't as bad as stealing a life jacket (a federal offense according to the tag that was inside the pouch), right?

There's one that's been stuck inside Kendal Square for a while now, I'm tempted to do the chain ring test if it's been abandoned or not. Kinda rough shape, but nothing some new paint can't fix.

Align the cranks so they're exactly sky/ground. See if they stay that way for a week or two.

Lifting the chain off also works, but it's kinda jerky if it is actually someone's bike that they use.
