Nitto if you are going with silver components, Thomson if you are going with black (could get silver too). CKT if you are going for straight up style, or you actually a track sprinter, if the bike rarely sees the track a CKT is worthless besides the style factor.

I personally use the Thomson Elite MTB stem, and have been pleased, although mine is a hair too long for me.

There one that goes deeper than that? What is the exact amount of drop on that?

There are crazy high rise stems that you can flip over to get even more drop than this one has. Some have no or removable decals. None of them are featherlight bling stems, though.

Deda makes a number of extremely sexy threadless stems. I've got a Deda Zero on the Basso that looks übersexy.

it's a 35 degree, and the shape is sexy...most cheap high rise flipped stem are hideous..won't get into it...but don't do it...it sucks, and these things aren't THAT expensive...but they don't come in 31.7..lame.

kelly is in the process of going out of business. they had a yard sale over the weekend. I wouldn't order anything from their website.

the salsa SUL cromoly are very similar

my vote goes to thomson.
