Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

me three, almost ran two over in the same block, and this **** never happens...yesterday was karma day for squirrels I guess. Actually, the best is last summer I hit A BIRD while racing around town. It hit my front wheel, shot up into my shoulder, then hit my friend riding close behind and he nearly fell off his bike.

That is both the funniest and truest thing I've seen today.

I know a guy who has a tattoo of a squirrel running up one leg and another tattoo of a squirrel running down the other leg with two nuts in it's mouth.

I kind of hit a dog a few months ago. I thought it was just running around in the street, noticed the leash about 5 feet before I ran into it, the dog swung around my bike and almost went under the front tire. I made sure the little bugger was ok and offered to give my info to the girl walking it just incase it got hurt. She said it was no big deal, so I bounced.

No squirrels though.

Yeah, but you'll need to send away for the really tiny medical instruments.

I think I killed a chipmunk a while back.. was doing a training ride, right next to the white line on a road where the thick grass/brush goes right up to the white line, or at least within 2 inches. So I had no time to react to it.. somewhat disturbing, but the family settled out of court, so I wasn't stuck with munkslaughter charges.

No squirrels in Australia, but I've run over a snake, I've hit a possum, narrowly missed an echidna (would have punctured for sure!) and I've been charged by an ostrich.

I've never hit an animal (i've kicked a dog that tried biting my foot though), but I use to live in Texas and one time I was riding about 1.5 hours outside of Austin and I had two horse running along side be for about 1/2 a mile... There was a fence between us but them seemed to just enjoy running along side me, it was ****ing sweet!
