I hit a squirrel today...

So i was riding down a street i almost daily ride down when a squirrel comes zipping out from under a parked car to my right. I would have missed it, but it decided to turn around at which point my front wheel hits part of it. Then the squirrel jumps directly upwards and latches ONTO MY LEFT ARM. It then decides that it doesnt want to be there either, jumps down and continues its crossing of the street. I go on my slightly confused way.

Apparently no harm done except for a small scratch on my arm and i think its tail was ****ed up. Suppose it couldve been alot worse.

DUDE! That's super ironic, because today I came inches away from hitting a squirrel.. same deal, he crossed in front of me, then got freaked out and started zipping back and forth in front of me, until he finally took off... crazy ****.

Deadly little buggers, really.

****ing weird! Doing laps in the park today I almost ran over a chipmunk. I thought for sure I was gonna kill the little dude and at the last second we both swerved, missing each other by about two inches! Crazy rodents!

humancongereel 09-26-06 07:41 PM

ha ha ha...that's ****ing funny.

i almost hit two pigeons today. damn things. still hard to tell--they may have been paying more attention than half the peds out there....

Hellseeker 09-26-06 07:43 PM

That is a much better scenario than hitting a fat girl.

They can be flat out lethal.

freeskihp 09-26-06 07:44 PM

little dogs without leashes are deadly. the big ones are smart enough to stay away

carleton 09-26-06 07:46 PM

Hahaha! Good story.

A squirrel ran up my uncle's pants leg one day. I wasn't there, but da*n, I can only imagine!

F*uckin' squirrels.

2manybikes 09-26-06 08:02 PM

Wow, never heard that before. Do you use peanut butter for sunscreen?

luckycat 09-26-06 08:03 PM

I hit a squirrel once in central park. Little sum***** faked me out. I didn't think he was going to go for it, but then at the last second he went for it. Was kind of like running over a little pillow. Some lady saw it and screamed "OH MY GAWD, HE HIT THE SQUIRREL!!!!". He(or she), did a weird little flip and kept running. Hopefully it survived and was a little bit wiser from the experience.

I've heard that squirrel up the pants story before, and can never quite believe it.

Last week I almost hit a deer. On a downhill out in the country, I was sprinting and getting some spinning practice, and one jumped out of the woods. Yeah kinda scary.

bikeskatethrash 09-26-06 08:52 PM

I was really most suprised that it actually jumped up and grabbed onto my arm. I guess at least I can say i've touched a live squirrel?

SamHall 09-26-06 08:58 PM

We have no deal with the squirrels!

This post reminds me of that Alanis Morrisette song that was so annoyingly popular in the mid 90's.

About six weeks ago I hit a possum on my bike... I'm just glad it wasn't an armadillo.

Cynikal 09-26-06 11:12 PM

I think I've killed 2 squirrels and hopped over one rattle snake in the last 3 years. Sacto is a dangerous place sometimes. ;)

Yes, in that both completely miss the point of what irony actually is.

Jerseysbest 09-27-06 04:54 AM

I don't know why I find those pictures so funny.

YoKev 09-27-06 05:00 AM

A squirrel faked me out the other day as well! I only ran over its tail though. It made some awfull sound and ran away...

This thread also reminds me that I have a picture of a pigeon that didn't move for the T in Boston...sliced right in half:eek:

Actually, it's a masterpiece of wit. Isn't it ironic to name a song "Ironic" about a bunch of things that aren't actually ironic?

Shiznaz 09-27-06 07:32 AM

Uh no... It's just dumb.

me three, almost ran two over in the same block, and this **** never happens...yesterday was karma day for squirrels I guess. Actually, the best is last summer I hit A BIRD while racing around town. It hit my front wheel, shot up into my shoulder, then hit my friend riding close behind and he nearly fell off his bike.
